As a political transition unfolds after a period of armed conflict, violence or repression, a society is confronted with a difficult legacy of human rights abuses that often include large numbers of disappearances of persons, never to be heard from again. Resolving the fate of the missing is a crucial political concern between former warring parties. Support for this important task is provided by ICMP.
